Also i searched a lot, some says like add SPS and PPS. both designate the same video compression, H.264/AVC, but the MP4 format only accepts specific tags. it says FFMPEG: tag 0x34363268/h264 is not supported with codec id 27 and format mp4 / MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14) but it accepts 'avc1', as listed in the other answer. it says "H264 - MPEG-4" AVC (part 10) (avc1)". ffmpeg rejects 'h264' for mp4 format containers.
but when i checked the same for other mp4 videos which are downloaded from web. Video is created.But i can play the video in vlc player only if i changed the extension to ".h264", also when i check for codec information it says "H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)". In addition each codec may support so-called private options, which are specific for a given codec. 2 Codec Options libavcodec provides some generic global options, which can be set on all the encoders and decoders. Im using ffmpeg library in windows with vs2012 to convert a series of images into Mp4 with H264 encoding.
